Welcome to School of Economics
"Fostering Knowledge for Opportunities"
The School was established in 2008 from the then Department of Economics that was housed in the School of Humanity and Social Sciences. Formation of a School of Economics was to give the economics discipline at Kenyatta University a chance to evolve and increase its research activities in order for the School to contribute its fair share to knowledge augmentation in Economics. The School has the autonomy to develop specialized Degree Programmes that are market driven so as to attract more students who currently go abroad in search of specialized economics courses such as Bachelor of Economics and Statistics; Bachelor of Economics and Finance; Master of Economics in such specialized areas as Health Economics, Financial Economics, Environmental Economics, just to mention but a few. Moreover, the for a very long time, the students of economics have been clamouring for an award of the “Degree of Economics” as distinct from the general Bachelor of Arts degree. Furthermore, there exists great demand by both the public and private sectors for graduates with degrees in specialized fields of Economics. This is evidenced by the large number of students with degrees in Economics, who have in the recent past been employed by financial institutions and the Public Service Commission. We are therefore responding to a market need.
TESTIMONIAL
Success is not a fluke, nor is it a result of chance. It is the result of our careful consideration and conclusions. Joining KUESA was one of the best decisions I have ever made since joining Kenyatta University. A learner's intellect should not be confined to a four-wall classroom; rather, he or she should push forward by learning and experiencing more than what the curriculum provides. KUESA has provided me with the opportunity to master statistical packages and financial modeling, among other things, allowing me to develop my skills and bridge the gap between the classroom and the corporate world; making a difference in people's lives through mentorship, community service, and connection with fellow students which helps to break the monotony of the classroom. This is but a tip of the iceberg on what KUESA has imparted on my academic, professional and social life.
I would recommend joining and participating in KUESA activities as a voyage of overall development. It is a journey of holistic growth that I would recommend to every student in the school of Economics and Kenyatta University at large.
KUESA is the best club in the University. It is a family you will never regret being part of. I invite you to join and let's grow together.
