Dr Peter Philip Wambua is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Business Administration, School of Business, Economics and Tourism at Kenyatta University. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (HRM option) from Kenyatta University, Master's in Business Administration (HRM option) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education (Business Studies and Economics) from the University of Nairobi. He is a human resource expert and a member of the Kenya Institute of Management as well as the Institute of Human Resource Management(Kenya).
Dr Peter Philip Wambua has researched and published several articles in internationally refereed journals in the fields of performance assessment, performance contracting, service delivery, work motivation and satisfaction, reward systems, and
employee performance, customer purchase decisions, organisational resources and strategic plans, employee retentions, human resource development mechanisms and organisational outcomes, strategic leadership practices and reforms implementation, organisational social practice and performance, talent management and organisation performance, E-recruitment system on performance, women’s livelihoods and promotional schemes influence on employee performance, among many others.
In 2017, Dr Wambua and other consultants from Kenyatta University won a competitive bid to review the Rwanda Correctional Service Curriculum, carry out a Training Needs Assessment and Training of Trainers. In 2020, he participated in writing a grant proposal to Bill and Melinda on women's economic empowerment, which was successfully won and thereafter launched and housed at the KU WEE HUB. He is a researcher in Tharaka Nithi on the subtheme of Female Labour Force Participation. He and other researchers have applied for several other grants through the support of Kenyatta University in respective areas, which have, however, not been successful. These include: Women’s Economic Empowerment, Gender Equality and Economic Development in Kenyan Selected Counties(NRF-2016); Enhancing youth economic livelihoods through drug and substance literacy in Machakos County, Kenya(CODE-2022); Strengthening childcare models that advance women’s economic power (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation 2023). He and other researchers won the Vice-Chancellors 2024/2025 Research and Innovation Award, a proposal titled “Promoting the Culture of Safety, Security and Peace among the Youth through Creative and Performing Arts in Kibra Informal Settlements in Nairobi City County,
Kenya”.
In the year 2014 Dr Wambua received Best lecturer Award Kenyatta University. On administrative matters in Kenyatta University Dr.Wambua is an Examination Coordinator in the School of Business, Economics and Tourism. Previously he has
served as an Examinations Coordinator in the department of security and correctional sciences as well as the Coordinator Kitui Campus. In addition, he has served in several departmental and school committees (relating to review of academic programmes,MOU’s and curriculum,).He served as a thematic lecturer in Arusha Campus. He successfully facilitated an MoU between Kenyatta University and Futurize which was signed by the Vice-Chancellor in 2023. On the 26 th July 2024 he was appointed as a member of editorial board Eminent Corporate Academy. He has participated in the IBRIC as a committee member and in the 6 th IBRIC 2024 he was the editor in chief. On the 17 th November 2023 Dr Wambua the led students with approval of the Vice-Chancellor to attend a HEALTHTECH SUMMIT hosted by Futurize in Strathmore University, Business School, Nairobi.

Dr Wambua facilitated an MOU between Kenyatta University and Energy Net which was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Kenyatta University and the Group Director, EnergyNet on the 16th September 2024 and thereafter implemented by successfully holding the Youth Energy Summit(YES) on the 11 th October 2024 at Kenyatta University. On the 25 October 2024 he mobilized students through KUBSA and Business Administration Department to attend the SEED GLOBAL Campus
education tour at Kenyatta University. This tour brought an interaction of staff and students with academic representatives from global leading universities of Illinois Gies College of Business(USA),The George Washington University(USA),Bocconi University(Milan, Italy) and PennState Smeal College of Business (USA).
On 20 th November 2024 with approval of the Vice-Chancellor and as the patron of the Kenyatta University Business Students Association (KUBSA), he mobilized students and other stakeholders alongside the officials to attend and participate in Women in Business and Leadership Conference, themed “Breaking Barriers, Building Leaders,” held in Room 149 at the BSSC building.
On 22 nd November 2024 with the approval of the Vice-Chancellors office Dr. Peter Philip Wambua (Department of Business Administration) and Dr. Lucy Mengany (Department of Medical Surgery) led a team of five students undertaking various degree programs in Kenyatta University to attend and participate in the heathtech summit and demo day at ALX,Nairobi, Kenya.
On the 18-20 th June 2025 with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Wambua led two university students i.e Sheila Wambui Wairimu (Bcom Finance) and Kennedy Ouma Ongor (Bsc Electrical and Electronics Engineering) who won grants from EnergyNet to attend the Youth Energy Summit in Cape Town, South Africa. Kenyatta University participated as a partner alongside other stakeholders. During the summit Dr Wambua showcased the profile and programs of Kenyatta University which earned Kenyatta University an award of ‘The Most Active University Partner’ On the 7 th August 2025 Dr Wambua presented to the Vice-Chancellor at BSSC the ‘The Most Active University Partner’ Award won in South Africa at the Cape Town International Conference Centre during the YES.

Dr. Wambua participates in community services within and outside the university. He is the Patron of Kenyatta University Business Students Association as well as a mentor of several students. Dr Wambua has also donated several books to Kenyatta University Library, Kenya Military Academic, Several Secondary Schools and Churches. He has also participated in the preparation of an MOU between Kenyatta University and Kenya Prisons Staff Training College. He is the founder of Zero to One (NGO) and is a motivational speaker on discovering your potential, life skills, living values, career choices and how to prepare for and pass examinations. He is a board member of ACK Mukengesya Secondary School and ABC Kathithyamaa Secondary School.
Dr.Wambua has supervised extensively master's students in human resource management, strategic management as well as security management. He has successfully guided six PhD students and is currently handling others.
